Our curriculum reflects our core values of promoting diversity and fostering girls' discovery of their own identity as well as inspiring greater appreciation for the history, values, lifestyles, beliefs, and contributions of different cultures and ethnicities.

 

Girls are encouraged to take part in classroom discussions that address multiculturalism and diversity, and they are exposed to literature from all over the globe. Teachers are careful to include resources from different cultural backgrounds that provide a variety of perspectives and insights in science, humanities, art, and literature, and they help students gain an understanding and appreciation of other cultures and eras.

 

GMS students learn not only the language of Spanish over their three years but are exposed to the literature, culture, food, and ceremonies of different Latin American countries, culminating in a cultural immersion trip to Mexico in eighth grade. They study artwork and read literature that cross geographic boundaries, learning about universal messages and unique visions.

 

Because the student population is diverse by design, GMS students develop concerned and caring relationships with girls from different backgrounds. Our Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) program helps them understand the importance of acceptance and to appreciate and celebrate the complexities of a diverse and multicultural world.
