Kim completed her undergraduate studies at Texas A & M University, College Station. She is in the MFA program at San Jose State University.

Kim has worked as an artist, primarily in clay, for seven years. She also works in textiles, photography, and film, and has shown her work nationally and internationally. Kim received two scholarships for her work, which include the Sandra Johnstone Memorial Scholarship from San Jose State University and a full graduate scholarship from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Cook also enjoys working in theatre and has performed professionally with City Lights Theatre, Saratoga Drama Group, San Jose State University theatre, and MACLA.

Kim joined the staff of GMS in 2004.
