New Family Welcome
The page is currently being updated....
Dear 2013 and 2014 Families,
Welcome to The Girls’ Middle School! We have created this welcome page to answer the many logistical questions that you may have as your daughter makes the transition to GMS. In addition to the information provided on this welcome page, your family will also receive two mailings over the course of the summer. If you have further questions we encourage you to contact us. However, please be aware that summer office hours are 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and GMS is closed from July 18 – 29, 2011.
Have a restful and happy summer. We look forward to seeing all of you at the New Family Picnic
Sincerely,
Megan Miller
Director of Admission

Who to Contact About…

Enrollment Forms and Change of Address
Valerie Adelsheim is the Registrar for GMS. You should receive a mailing of important forms in early June. Please read carefully and return all required forms by August 12th. Uniforms
Lands' End is GMS’s new uniform provider. With Lands’ End you can easily and conveniently order your daughter’s uniforms either on-line, by phone or through the mail and your order will be shipped directly to your home. Note: many items are unisex, so you will see them under both boys and girls headings.
To order uniforms online:
Step 1: go online to landsend.com/school
Step 2: click on “Find your school’s dress code” to look up The Girls' Middle School, and enter our online store.
To order uniforms over the phone:
Step 1: call 1 (800) 469-2222 and use our Preferred School Number, 900144353, to access our school dress code items.
Required Items:
All girls are required to own a Cobalt Short Sleeved Super Tee.
All girls are also required to own a pair of black mesh shorts (no logo required), from Lands' End for physical education classes.
GMS Dress Code:
All upper-wear (t-shirts, sweatshirts, polo shirts, long sleeve shirts, and fleece vests and jackets) must bear the GMS logo. Since students have many GMS uniform item options, only GMS uniforms may be worn when layering. Uniforms must be GMS approved clothing and may not be altered in any manner. Students may wear any bottoms they prefer.
If you have further questions, contact Valerie (650.968.8338 ext 112 or vadelsheim@girlsms.org).
After School Activities
GMS offers a variety of after school opportunities for your daughter, including sports (softball, soccer, basketball, and volleyball teams) and after school homework club (a quiet space for completing homework), and organized after school activities including drama and math circles. All of these programs run from 3:30 to 5:00 pm with the exception of Friday. You will receive information about how to sign up for after school activities during the first week of school. If you have further questions please contact Marjorie Lucks (650.968.8338 ext 126 or mlucks@girlsms.org).
Transportation To and From the Train Station
GMS offers a shuttle to and from the Palo Alto University Ave. and Mountain View Castro train stations. To sign up for shuttle service to and from the train/light rail station, see the form in your summer mailing.
