FAQs

How big is the school?

Starting with the 2008-09 school year, we will have three classes in each grade. Each class will have approximately 16 students for a total enrollment of no more than 144.

How much does it cost?

The 2007-08 tuition is $18,000 with an activity fee of $350 and a sliding technology fee of $750 for incoming 6th graders and $500 for seventh graders.

Are you accredited?

Yes, GMS earned the highest level of accreditation by Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) until 2010. This is very unusual for a school so young to earn such a high level of accreditation. GMS is also a member of California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS) and the National Coalition of Girls' Schools (NCGS).

Are you financially stable?

Yes, our visionary founder set up an enviable financial reserve and endowment funds.

Do you require uniforms?

Yes, there is a uniform top with the GMS logo.

Do graduates go to public or private schools?

Our graduates go on to either public or private schools depending on the individual decisions of the families. Our graduates have been accepted at most of the private schools on the Peninsula and some highly-selective boarding schools. Many of our families are strong believers in public school education; they entrust GMS to provide unique value during these critical years before returning to public high school. Regardless of where our graduates attend high school, they are thriving.

"At GMS I became comfortable with myself -- a lot of people in high school don't know what they are doing, but if you have a sense of who you are at the moment, you have a leg up on the crowd. GMS was very important in allowing this development."
