Financial Aid
The Girls' Middle School strives to be an inclusive and welcoming community. Part of the original mission of the school is to develop a student body from diverse backgrounds, including families from all income levels. The Financial Aid program is one tool to accomplish this goal. Offering financial aid to high achieving girls who could not otherwise afford an independent school education enriches both the school and the learning environment for all students.
GMS is committed to offer financial aid to 20% of our students. We offer three types of scholarships:
- Complete Tuition Scholarships include tuition, field trips, the trip to Mexico for the 8th graders and the trip to Washington, DC for 7th graders, uniforms, graduation and yearbook. If needed, this scholarship also includes hot lunches, transportation and academic support.
- Full Tuition Scholarships include the cost of tuition only.
- Partial Tuition Scholarships include partial tuition only.
Financial Aid at The Girls' Middle School is need-based. All families receiving financial aid must qualify on a yearly basis through the National Association for Independent Schools (NAIS) "School Services for Financial Aid" process. No merit scholarships are given at GMS.
Financial aid applications are considered independently from each student's admissions application. Once the student has been admitted, the financial aid application is considered. The admissions and financial aid decisions are mailed together whenever possible to facilitate the family's decision to attend.

"I already had a clue as to how to do things when I got to high school, I could help others who didn't know how to use a computer. Another important thing at GMS was all the reading that we did."
