To Dream the Impossible Dream
This year, Walter's dreams of a triumphant return to the stage are being realized as he stars in Man of La Mancha with the Saratoga Drama Group. Next year, Walter's dreams of a bigger library will become a reality as the library triples in size to become a true media center. The addition of two new portable classrooms will allow Walter and the entire library collection into a vacated classroom. We still need to transform the room with bookshelves, display space for magazines and graphic novels, a web-based checkout system, and comfortable seating.
You can help with both dreams by attending the GMS special performance and reception to benefit the GMS Library Fund. Man of La Mancha is a Tony Award-winning play-within-a-play, based on the novel Don Quixote. On Saturday, May 31 at 2:30 pm, Walter and the cast of La Mancha will put on a special benefit performance followed by a reception with Walter and the cast, just for GMS. Special thanks to "Friends of the Library" event sponsors Patrice Ash and Frank Klotz, Alice Lankester and Peter Winer, and Karen and Bruce Rohde. Tickets are $35 for adults, $20 for children 13 and under, or you can buy a family pack with 2 adults and 2 children for $100. The performance is at the Saratoga Civic Theatre, 13777 Fruitvale Ave, Saratoga, CA 95070. you can buy tickets online or contact Abby Usher at 650-968-8338 x125.
Welcome new GMS Families
All GMS families, please join us in welcoming newcomers at the annual New Family Picnic on Saturday, May 17th from noon-3 pm. We are welcoming 49 sixth graders and six new seventh graders! The New Family Picnic provides a great opportunity to get to know new friends and spend time at the end of the year with old friends. You can also check out the new uniform offerings and sign up for volunteer spots for next year. Please RSVP to Megan Miller at 968-8338 x123 and let her know how many in your family will attend and whether you can volunteer with set up, registration, uniform assistance, food supervision, clean up or provide a homemade dessert. We look forward to seeing you there!
Lost anything? It might be Found at GMS... but not for long
Ever wondered what happened to that jacket that went missing or those sunglasses that disappeared? GMS is cleaning house, and that means all lost and found items will be tossed in exactly two weeks! Please stop by Lost and Found before Tuesday, May 13 and claim your belongings.
