Getting to Know GMS
There are many ways to get to know GMS this season. Every admission event is open and available to all families and we encourage you to participate in them as it is comfortable for you. We have created these events as a way to share what we believe is special about GMS and offer you the opportunity to experience the warmth of our community for yourself.
Attendance at all events is optional. We strive to make the application process as simple and stress-free as possible. We seek diversity through all aspects of the school and encourage all interested families to learn more about our program. You do not need to submit an application or application fee to participate in our events.

Our Open House is a one-stop shop for you and your fifth grader to experience the energy of our students, the dedication of our faculty and staff, and the warm atmosphere that makes our community special. You will hear from the Head of School, the Admission Team, and all GMS teachers. A panel of current students and alums will talk about their experiences at GMS. This event is for families intending to apply in the current season only (not future years). While it is not required, we highly recommend that all applicant families attend an Open House. Spanish translation will be available at both Open Houses. Please register to attend an Open House through your Ravenna account.

Campus Visits and Parent Tours
During a Campus Visit, fifth grade students experience a typical school day and gain a personal sense of life at GMS. Visiting students will be paired with a sixth grade host who will be their buddy as they attend classes together throughout the morning. Parents and guardians are welcome to stay for a Parent Tour, during which the Admission Team will answer questions and current GMS parent volunteers are available to show you around school. Please note that we do not conduct any type of applicant evaluation or assessment during the Campus Visit.
- Campus Visit for students: 8:15am - 12:10pm on selected dates in the fall
- Parent Tour for parents/guardians: 8:15am - 9:30am on selected dates in the fall
We offer a variety of opportunities both in-person and on Zoom for parents and guardians to learn more about GMS and interact with our community. We encourage you to register for any of these gatherings that interest you. Dates and details for all gatherings are available in Ravenna.
Parent to Parent Chats: Talk with current and alum GMS parents about their GMS experience. Some events are in person and organized by location, which might be helpful if you have questions about your commute or your local public high school transition, for example. Other events are hosted on Zoom and are not location-specific.
Leadership Team Q&A: Join our Head of School and Assistant Head of School on Zoom to talk about all things GMS. Christine and Megan will share their thoughts on the middle school experience, our progressive philosophy, the magic of GMS’s hands-on curriculum, and more. Bring your questions!
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at GMS: Hear from GMS faculty, staff, and families about our ongoing efforts to create a safe and inclusive environment for all students and families. This event will take place on Zoom. Spanish translation is available.
Families of Color Community Conversation: Families of color are encouraged to join GMS families for an interactive conversation on Zoom. Members of our community will share their experiences and reflections and answer your questions. Spanish translation is available at this event.
Tuition Assistance Information Session
We are committed to enrolling students from all backgrounds and we make admission decisions independent of a student’s application for tuition assistance.The Tuition Assistance Information Session is an opportunity to learn more about our programs and how to apply for Financial Aid. We will review the process, documents required, and timeline. There will be an opportunity to ask general questions about Financial Aid and the Bennett Scholars Program.
