Applying to GMS

The Girls' Middle School uses Ravenna, an online application, to manage the admission process. In Ravenna, you can track your steps during the admission process, register for admission events, and submit an application. To begin, create a Ravenna account. 

Key Dates for the 2025-26 Admission Season

• Ravenna application & event registration opens: September 2, 2025
• Admission events: October 2025 - December 2025
• Application deadline: January 8, 2026
• Family Interviews: January 2026 - February 2026
• Tuition Assistance application deadline: February 6, 2026
• Admission decisions released: March 20, 2026 at 4pm PST
• Say YES to GMS (deposit due): March 27, 2026 at 12pm PST

GMS believes in making all aspects of the application and admission process equitable and fair. Admission events are open to all families–you do not need to submit an application or application fee to participate in any of our events.

Entrance Testing

GMS will not accept any standardized test scores (ISEE, SSAT, STAR, etc.) for the 2025-2026 admission season. Likewise, GMS will not require nor accept the Online Essay (offered through Test Innovators) for the 2025-2026 admission season. 

APPLICATION Materials

The following forms in Ravenna are required to complete an application to GMS. The application deadline is January 8, 2026. All forms must be submitted or delegated by this date.

• Application for Admission - Complete and submit with a $90 application fee (please contact our office if this poses a financial hardship).
• Parent Questionnaire(s) - Each parent or guardian living with the applicant completes a questionnaire.
• Teacher Recommendations - Delegate the Ravenna form to two teachers - the applicant’s current teacher and last year’s teacher.
• Principal or Counselor Recommendation - Delegate the Ravenna form to your daughter’s principal or school counselor.
• Personal Recommendation - In addition to your daughter’s teachers, we appreciate a recommendation from another adult who plays a significant role in her life.

• Transcript Release and Confidentiality Form - Please delegate this form to the principal’s office at your daughter’s elementary school. Her school should send the transcripts directly to Ravenna.

The FAMILY INTERVIEW

After completing an application, we invite all families to meet with us for a Family Interview. Our Family Interviews are conversational and take place with all parents or guardians and the applicant. As part of the interview experience, your child will be asked to complete a writing exercise. Family Interviews are held in January and February each year. Families who submit an application may schedule a Family Interview through the Ravenna system beginning on January 9, 2026. 

TUITION ASSISTANCE

Through our Flexible Tuition Program and The Bennett Scholars Program, we aim to make a GMS education accessible to everyone. We encourage all families to learn more about these programs and contact our office with any questions. We are committed to enrolling students from all backgrounds and we make admission decisions independent of a student's application for tuition assistance.

DECISIONS

All decisions are posted in Ravenna on March 20, 2026 at 4:00 PM.

Enrollment contracts are due at noon (12:00 p.m.) on March 27, 2026.
